Angela joins RocketEd as our SEND Consultant, bringing extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the legal responsibilities placed on schools, colleges and local authorities when identifying and undertaking support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND.)
For seven years before moving with her family to live overseas, Angela was Deputy Head of Service for a large London Borough SEND team, holding joint responsibility for carrying out the statutory duties detailed within the Children and Families Act (2014). Prior to that, Angela managed a local authority Parent Partnership Service (now known as SENDIASS), working within the same legislative framework, providing person-centred information to families and delivering training to parents, schools and other organisations.
Angela understands how confusing and intimidating it can be for parents to navigate the law as well as unfamiliar and often complicated policies and processes, when trying to ensure that their child’s special educational needs are met. She aims to offer parents independent, impartial, confidential information and advice on what steps they should take either at the initial stages of parental queries or at any other time of their child’s SEND journey.
Angela holds an LLB (Hons) in Law and postgraduate qualifications in child and adolescent mental health. She is currently working towards her Masters in Speech and Language Therapy on a part-time basis.
