Services for Schools and Settings
Our aim at RocketEd is to support schools and other settings with expert, down-to-earth support and guidance. Whether it’s providing engaging training sessions, staff supervision, help with SEND provision or exam access arrangements, we work alongside you to create inclusive, thriving learning environments. We work hard to empower educators and help every young person reach their full potential.
Training
RocketEd professionals have a variety of skills, knowledge and experience which enables us to offer training for parents and staff in a range of areas, through staff twilights or whole staff INSET training sessions. These can be on particular areas of special educational need (for example autism, ADHD/ADD, dyscalculia, dyslexia or more general areas such as how to promote inclusion, ways to help young people manage anxiety and strategies to support children and young people who have been bereaved.
Professional Staff Supervision
We understand that responding to the daily needs of the school community can be challenging and isolating and we offer high quality supervision to enhance professional development and wellbeing. We know that having the opportunity for a professional conversation, in confidence, is valued by school staff and leaders. Supervision provides time to reflect on the skills and demands of teaching, communication and managing change.
Supervision is not line management, rather it provides an opportunity for professionals to take stock, reflect and problem-solve. Sessions are often used to consider issues, conflict, stresses, decision making, influence team dynamics and address the personal demands of working in educational settings and organisations.
Exam Access Arrangements (EAA) Support
These are special arrangements put in place to make sure that all students are on a ‘level playing field’ when sitting examinations and assessments. Schools are required to ensure that EAA are available for students with substantial, long-term difficulties with an adverse effect on their normal day-to-day activities in school. Secondary schools are required to follow strict guidelines set out by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) which are updated annually, and we work with schools to ensure that these are followed and met. We can do this by helping schools oversee the administration of large group screenings and by conducting follow up individual EAA assessments, if required, to ascertain whether students meet the published criteria for EAA.
Reviews of SEND Provision and/or Processes
Schools, settings and Local Authorities can commission RocketEd to review specific aspects of SEND processes and/or provision and advise on next steps. We draw on the knowledge, experience and expertise of our team members to focus on the issues at hand. We aim to promote inclusion, best practice and to ensure compliance with legislation and guidance, and we will provide a detailed report with suggested actions for improvement when this is required.
Our team can help educational settings and other organisations develop and strengthen their processes for SEND by identifying and addressing systemic issues, information gathering and working together to formulate an action plan with recommendations. We can research key areas and find solutions through sharing evidence-based practice across many areas relevant to children with additional educational needs.
