RocketEd is delighted to have Dr Kristy Fenton on the team. An experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Kristy conducts Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments for children and young people aged 8 to 19 years. As well as this, she is a parent of teenagers, proud cockapoo owner and a committed Ipswich Town supporter.
Kristy graduated in medicine from University College London more than twenty years ago. She knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career in psychiatry and having trained in multiple psychiatric disciplines, Kristy found her place in child and adolescent psychiatry. She focused her training in this area and became a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in 2012. Alongside her skills as a psychiatrist, Kristy has undertaken additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, systemic family therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, providing a considered, empathic and holistic approach.
Kristy has worked in both the NHS and in the independent sector. She has been part of a transformation team with an independent hospital, providing clinical input into the development of a new day hospital She has been elected Chair of the Child and Adolescent Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists by colleagues in Wales, and joined an advisory panel on children's mental health during the Covid pandemic. Kristy is also involved in the training of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.
Kristy has a keen interest in service development, being highly patient-focused and always putting the patient experience at the forefront of her work. She understands the need for a fully individualised approach based on the foundations of evidence-based practice.
Kristy offers ADHD assessments for children and young people age 8 to 19 years. Assessments comprise the use of standardised assessment tools, liaison with school/college and most importantly a face-to-face clinical assessment. If required, Kristy can discuss further treatment options, such as a medication initiation plan, and provide ongoing follow-up care. Assessments are conducted in our rooms in London EC1, as shown on the map below, and is accessible by public transport from all parts of the UK.
