Hannah Abrahams
Educational and Child PsychologistBA (Hons), PGCE, MSc, CPsychol
Hannah Abrahams has been practising as an Educational and Child Psychologist for almost 20 years. She is a mother to three children, has worked in both state and private practice and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and empathy to her work.
Hannah’s diverse career began as a primary school teacher in inner London, where she developed a special interest for supporting children with social and communication differences including autism and ADHD. After qualification, she then spent 15 years working as a local authority Educational Psychologist before moving into the private sector. She has worked in nurseries, primaries and secondary schools as well as post-16 settings and specialist provisions.
Hannah thrives on working with multidisciplinary teams using a collaborative and therapeutic approach. She was part of the team who founded a special needs school in North London deemed ‘outstanding’ in subsequent Ofsted inspections, later becoming the school’s educational psychologist. Hannah’s aim was to educate, empower and engage the children, many of whom were autistic, which she achieved through whole school initiatives, staff supervision, training and consultation for parents and carers alongside individual assessment and support for all students at the school.
Hannah played a significant role in the local response to the Grenfell fire in 2017, taking a ‘trauma informed practise’ approach to lead a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists and psychotherapists in support of local schools and families and children who escaped the fire. She regularly provides talks in both corporate and educational settings to support parents with their children’s emotional wellbeing and to manage the many challenges of parenting a child with additional needs.
Hannah has a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Leeds University. She completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the Froebel Centre, Roehampton University. She completed her Masters in Educational Psychology at the Institute of Education, London, achieving this with distinction. Hannah is a Chartered Educational Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society and a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL0014).
In conjunction with Hannah Lethbridge, Hannah offers autism assessments. These take place at our rooms in North London.
