Lauren qualified as a primary school teacher in South Africa before moving to the United Kingdom, where she obtained her Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Lauren has taught across Key Stages 1 and 2 (nursery to Year 6) and has taken on various leadership roles during almost twenty years in education. She currently serves on the governing board of a local primary school and is an active member of the Barnet Maths Hub.
Lauren has a deep passion for teaching Maths and is dedicated to helping children who struggle with the subject. She divides her time between classroom teaching and tutoring. She loves helping children gain confidence in their abilities and enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for making connections in Maths. Lauren firmly believes that every child can succeed in Maths if provided with the right foundation. Her teaching approach is calm and fun, encouraging students to feel comfortable making mistakes and confident in asking questions. She feels strongly that building a trusting relationship with her students is essential for unlocking their mathematical potential. Starting from each child's individual level of understanding, she builds on their knowledge in an engaging and enjoyable way, which is particularly beneficial for those with Maths anxiety.
Lauren passionately advocates for early intervention, emphasising the need to address a child’s difficulties and misconceptions as soon as possible in order to enable future progress on a solid foundation.
Lauren has completed her Level 5 training in Dyscalculia and Maths Learning Difficulties and is a proud member of the Dyscalculia Network. She offers Specialist Maths Tuition to children from ages 5 to 11.
